Dr. Bruce McMahan - Philanthropy & PatronageBruce McMahan and the ArtsPhilanthropist Dr. Bruce McMahan is a vigorous patron of the arts. His contributions and support make stellar performances from many of the world's best up and coming performers possible. Six years after graduating from USC, McMahan and a group of associates attempted to create their own country by sinking a decommissioned World War II ship 220 miles off the California coastline, then piling on concrete, clay, and garbage. Had the plan succeeded, the resulting island would have been in international waters, outside the jurisdiction of American law. McMahan's group had reportedly planned to corner the market on abalone fishing. However, the plan failed. Bruce McMahan's CareerMcMahan created an international option funds group for Paine Webber, and later became a partner at Bear Stearns. Going independent, he founded McMahan Securities LP, which is the third largest-volume convertible securities firm in the United States. His wide range of interests led to his divergent activities. Bruce's worked with economically disadvantaged towns in Cambodia, he's a major contributor to the fight against cerebral palsy, financed instructional films, and has sponsored a variety of impressive artistic projects, from our Miklós Rózsa Centenary Project, to the Maxximus G-Force Project - an automobile highlighting the best technology of today. Bruce McMahan is the Controlling General Partner and Chief Executive Officer of McMahan Securities Co. L.P. and the founder of the National Cristina Foundation, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the support of training through donated used technology.
